Company members

Siobhan Bowie Wooler - General Manager

Siobhan is a 20 year old student, currently in her third year at Plymouth University studying Dance Theatre. She is trained strongly in Release Technique and Contact Improvisation, but also takes an interest in yoga, ballet, rock ‘n’ roll and integrated dance. She started training at Brockhill Park Performing Arts College taking part in Instep Dance Company and Lila Dance’s Youth Company ‘The Mayakaras’. From this Siobhan has worked with the Jasmin Vardimon Company on a youth project and successfully gained a place into Trinity Laban’s Youth Dance Company.

 

Since arriving at University Siobhan has become a Plymouth Dance Volunteer and had the opportunity to stage manage Theatre Royal Plymouth’s U.Dance 2015. Siobhan has continued on being a volunteer and hopes to push her dance skills and develop her interest in Physical Theatre further.

Lauren Pomfret - Rehearsal Director

Lauren is a 20 year old student, currently studying in her third year at Plymouth University’s Dance Theatre degree course. She is a contemporary dancer trained in Release Technique and is interested in yoga and authentic movement. Before studying at University Lauren trained with SpinDrift Youth Company and Plymouth Youth Dance Company with working artists Suzie West and Jules Laville.

 

More recently she has shadowed Freefall Dance Company and completed a repertory residency with Heather Walrond and a choreographic residency with Jane Castree. Lauren thoroughly enjoys performing and is currently researching and enjoying site specific collaborations to create movement.

Naomi Adams - Network Engagement Developer

Naomi is a 20 year old student, studying in her third year on Plymouth University’s BA (Hons) Dance Theatre course. She is trained in Release Technique, Contact Improvisation, Gymnastics and Cheerleading. Naomi has been a part of Gymnastics and Cheerleading since she was a child starting at Gloucester Cheerleading Academy and her passion for the art form had only increased, as she firstly began coaching at Elite Cheerleading Academy in Plymouth to becoming assistant coach at Power Athletics. Power Athletics have just competed in their first competition of the season receiving the Sportsmanship award; she now mentors two emerging coaches also. Naomi flicks back and forth between Contemporary Dance and Cheerleading and is interested in fusing the styles together for creative performance. Naomi is an engaging teacher in both styles and has delivered many workshops and summer intensives to secondary school students and was asked to guest choreograph at Ribston High School for Girls sixth form for the partnering dance company.

 

Alongside her excellent teaching skills she joined the volunteer team for Plymouth Dance and assisted with U.Dance 2015 undergoing valuable training in Marketing and Networking.  Naomi has a strong awareness of Inclusive Practice and worked for Exim Dance Company through their Research and Development period, assisting Choreographer Kevin French through the creation of his new work. Currently Naomi is finishing her degree and teaching both Cheerleading and Contemporary Dance to all ages. She has recently successfully gained a place on a PGCE course with Exeter University in September 2016.

Nathan Matthews - Company Dancer

Nathan is 22 years old and has recently graduated from Plymouth University’s Dance Theatre course completing his degree with a 2:1. He is strongly trained in Release Technique and Contact Improvisation and enjoys the occasional Street class. Nathan has a keen interest in Integrated Dance and subsequently is now working with Far Flung Dance Theatre a new upcoming integrated dance company; in addition to this he will be taking part in work experience with Candoco Dance Company in February.

 

Nathan is a part of Devon based dance company SpinDrift and co-founder of South Dance Company, an all-boys youth group that have performed at U.Dance 2015 on the Theatre Royal Plymouth stage. He is also an engaging teaching that is currently coaching Plymouth University’s contemporary dance squad through weekly classes and competitions.

Samantha Mills - Company Dancer

Sam is a 23 year old student, in her second year studying a BA (Hons) Dance Theatre at Plymouth University. She is a diverse dance artist trained in Release Technique, Hip Hop, Breaking, Street and her interests are Pilates, Yoga, Contact Improvisation and Flying Low. Before University Sam attended Stagecoach Arts School and trained in dance, drama and voice. She continued on her passion for dance taking Ballet and Tap classes, alongside successfully gaining a place at Devon Youth Dance Company (DYDC). Sam furthered her study in the arts and received an A-Level in Dance and a BTEC in Music. She then led on to study at Plymouth University and has performed with Attik Youth Dance Company across Devon. 

 

Currently Sam is also training with Exim Dance Company to receive a Level 2 certificate in Dance Leadership and is a member of Barbican Theatre’s Company B Dance Company.  Alongside dancing for With Company she has also begun to co-create her own work with Leroy Ward Director of South Dance Company. Sam has a strong passion for performing and teaching dance and likes to be inspired and inspire.

Amie Barlow - Company Dancer

Amie is a 21 year old student, in her third year studying a BA (Hons) Dance Theatre at Plymouth University. She is trained in a variety of styles such as Release Technique, Jazz and Street Dance. Before university Amie trained in Ballet as a child, then joining Gemini School of Dance training in different styles and eventually started to perform as part of an urban dance troop at the Fahrenheit School of Dance. From this Amie pursued other performance genres gaining a Level 3 BTEC in Musical Theatre, with opportunities to perform lead dance roles in a number of productions. Her passions for the art form lead to studying a two year Dance HND at SWADA, here she began to train intensively in contemporary dance and Physical Theatre.

 

Amie began taking part in workshops with well-known contemporary dance companies such as Panta Rei and Ace Dance, with the opportunity to perform at Bath Fringe Festival. Currently Amie is a passionate performer and enjoys teaching Street/Commercial Dance with one of Plymouth’s Street crews Rhythm City.
